Fiona & Stephen – Pieve Di Pitti, ItalyApril 12, 2019
Gary here! To be honest I’m tempted to not say a thing and just let you get to the photos of this absolutely stunning wedding in the equally as stunning location of Pieve De Pitti in Pisa, Italy – But good things come to those who wait (Or just scroll past the text…)
I’d photographed Fiona & Stevens baby girl Heleana the previous year (She’s the cutie with the pink blanket!) so was absolutely delighted when they asked me to photograph their wedding in Italy – Naturally I said “Sì” immediately!
I think it’s safe to say that most photographers have a Destination Wedding on their bucket list, so I was buzzing for this – But also nervous. I don’t speak Italian (Contrary to what you may have read), I’d never even been to Italy and I’d be shooting on my own without Corinne! But I pulled on my big boy pants, jumped a flight across the English channel and the rest of Europe and arrived in Pisa!
The place was incredible (Ill let the photos do the talking, finally) – The location, the weather (Despite the rain starting off as being BIBLICAL at first), the gorgeous couple, the decor, the outfits, THE FOOD! Don’t get me started on the food, oh my days, and there was also a wee dog! Literally every GOOD WEDDING boxed ticked.
There was a cool relaxed atmosphere about the day, must be that Italian way of life – It went without a hitch (Except some angry chef shouting at me in Italian brandishing a huge carving knife – turns out he wanted to know who was cutting the cake) and it was seriously one of the best weddings I’ve ever been too – Just really different, fun and full of love.
I will never forget the sound system blasting Bits & Pieces louder than I’ve ever heard out over the tranquil vineyards of Pieve Di Pitti. What a party.
